BIOGRAPHY

Mattie Mead is a Sun Valley based entrepreneur dedicated to transforming the built environment through sustainable materials. As the Founder and CEO of Hempitecture, he has led the charge in developing innovative, bio-based building solutions that contribute to decarbonization. Hempitecture’s flagship products are natural fiber-based nonwovens derived from industrial hemp, designed to replace traditional, environmentally harmful materials in the construction industry.

Under Mattie’s leadership, Hempitecture has grown into a leading force in the sustainable building sector, earning him and his cofounder a spot on the Forbes "30 Under 30" list in Manufacturing & Industry in 2020. His work is not only about creating high performance, low impact products but also about reenvisioning the future of construction to prioritize health, sustainability, and carbon sequestration.

Beyond his work with Hempitecture, Mattie is actively involved in his community. He has served on the Board of Directors for Idaho BaseCamp, a non-profit organization that connects underserved communities with the outdoors, and has held leadership roles in Ketchum’s Planning and Zoning Commission and the Historical Preservation Commission. A TEDx speaker, Mattie continues to advocate for innovative approaches to building a better, more sustainable world.

Mattie is a graduate of Hobart College, where he studied architecture, environmental sciences, studio art, and entrepreneurship. He lives in Ketchum, Idaho, where he remains committed to making a positive impact both locally and globally.
